I was messing around with commands and gave a diamond chestplate maximum unbreaking (lvl 2147483647). When I tested it out in survival it didn't make much of a difference and the armor took damage anyway. Setting unbreaking to lvl 2147483647 makes tools and weapons unbreakable, but for some reason it doesn't do the same for armor.
