Crafting Guide

When I open the crafting guide (green book icon) instead of putting the guide to the left of my inventory it puts it on top of it so the only way I can get out of it is by selecting a recipe. However, whenever I try and craft something using normal crafting my game crashes, and when I load back in the game still has the guide open instead of normal crafting so if I try and craft something it crashes again.
