Java won't play my previous Java games!

Put the summary of the bug you're having here

What I expected to happen was...:
Previous Java games should work. Also the newly installed Terra Swoop Force, which worked YESTERDAY.

What actually happened was...:
NO PREVIOUS games work. I think a plain, new world, default, works, but I don't use those. I STRONGLY SUSPECT the new screen option, and the programming behind it, are the issues. As with Bedrock, this is being launched before adequate testing, and is wreaking HAVOC!

Drag Data Pack  is NOT explained! What DO you want here???? I see FOLDERS at Roaming/.minecraft/saves   . I do not see ANYTHING titled Data Pack! So QUIT the mumbo jumbo ancient jargon. Use RECOGNIZABLE words!

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Please post, in an EASILY accessed place, what is happening.
2. Fix wording to make sense as to WHAT FILES, FOLDERS need to go, WHERE?
3. If ONLY DEFAULT works, then have a pop up, at that WINDOW, that SAYS ONLY DEFAULT WORKS.

What are you actually trying do do? I have no clue what your issue is. Please explain.

Why are you still waiting for a response??? I am trying to access my 2 purhcased Java Minecraft programs, and my games & content I created in those programs. The new sign-in mechanism has now been in place several days. Every attempt at getting to my content results in Demo, only. I don't want a 5-day Demo. I want my purchased content and created games to OPEN.  In several attempts, I got to a screen that said if you already have the program, download it again. I tried that several times. See my youtube video: https://youtu.be/TslYy90WrjY

Do you have authority and competence to start solving this problem???? I SHOULD BE ABLE TO SIGN IN the OLD WAY, and GET TO MY CONTENT, until Microsoft-Mojang FIX THIS! I have contacted Minecraft Help <[email protected]> , who replied that it looks like I can only see  Demo version. I already knew that! That solved NOTHING. The anonymous Zendesk person, or artificial intelligence, asked for transaction info, and I SENT transaction info. NO ADDITIONAL RESPONSE from zendesk....   Look at my video.  Then get a competent person to start fixing the problem.

This is NOT resolved. See my video: https://youtu.be/TslYy90WrjY

There is no bug here, even with the video explanation. Make sure to sign into your account whether that be your mojang or Microsoft account (if you have one) if you don't want to play the demo.

The migration from Mojang to Microsoft accounts has not yet begun. If you have "migrated" your account, you fell for a scam.

Your video shows that you're able to play the full version of the game and are not restricted to play the demo.

If you don't know how to import worlds into Minecraft: Java Edition, there are plenty of tutorials that tell you how to do that. Here's one from the official Minecraft Wiki: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Map_downloads

Still NOT resolved. So, if the new Sign In is not the problem, could 16.5 be the problem??? I do have other Worlds in my Saves folder. They will NOT open. What about the Forge, and other add ons, that worked in 16.4???  What are the know issues with 16.5, regarding add ons, such as Pam's Harvest, etc.

Torabi

Mods typically have to be updated for each version of Minecraft. If you have worlds that depend on particular mods, they will likely not open until Forge and those mods have updated, and you install the appropriate versions.

However, the problem in this case is likely that you're not signing in with the correct account. You need to select the Mojang Login and use your old Mojang account. Migration is not yet available, so signing in with a Microsoft account isn't going to give you access to Minecraft.

It is possible that by signing in with the wrong account, something got changed in the launcher profile you're using, so that even when you do sign in with the correct account, it's not pointing to the correct folder with all your worlds in it, and is just displaying the demo world that was generated when you signed into the wrong account. I suggest you either edit the profile and ensure that it is pointing to the correct folder, or try creating a new profile.

Annette Knobloch

How can  tell if the profile is pointing to the correct folder????

Torabi

Are you able to find the folder with your worlds in it on your hard drive? If you point at the profile in the installations tab in the launcher, there should be a button to edit that profile. On the screen that pops up, there's an option for "Game Directory". It should match the location on your hard drive that contains the "save" folder where your worlds are located. If it says "<Use default directory>", then it's looking in the .minecraft folder.
