First off, I don't have any steps to reproduce but when I put this on the support discord a helper asked me to post it here.
Recently Minecraft would fail to open any worlds. Checking through the logs I found a divide by 0 error. It turns out my render distance had somehow been changed to 0 chunks. Moving the slider would fix this issue and restrict the render distance to the normal bounds.
Here is a pastebin to the logs in question: https://pastebin.com/tGFftL8B

I have edited options.txt but never anything on the render distance line, I have played that world on multiple versions (only from 1.16 to 1.16.4 though). However, the world has been on 1.16.4 ever since it was released without any issues. Same goes with mods: I use mods like litematica and minihud along with sodium, lithium and phosphor but have used them for a while without any issues.
it might be a bug in one of the mods that you're using, and, in that case, mojang can't do anything about that
Hmm, that's odd. Did you ever manually edit your options.txt file? Did you ever use any mods, or play on an earlier version of the game?
