maps glitch out when taken from item frame

I have a survival world that I made in 1.16.4 that had a map inside of an item frame. The map had multiple banner markers on it, and I took it out to add another one. However when I took the map out of the item frame, It didn't update and showed me to be in the far left corner when I should have been on the map. I don't have any visuals, as I tried to fix the problem by attempting to clone the map, and accidentally increasing it's scale instead. I think that it may be because I updated versions, though I have had this bug before.
