Whenever I am playing, my game will freeze, then crash. I have tested with and without mods, and still the same behavior.

Without resource packs it is still crashing. Why was this closed as resolved if I have not said anything? Nice support huh
Resolved does not really mean anything in terms of whether the bug was fixed/won't fix/rejected - it is default status when Awaiting Response is set. I would interpret that the ticket won't be looked at unless an update is given by the author/other users.
Please upload the affected world and provide steps to reproduce.
Try disabling the incompatible resourcepack.
