stuck in elytra fly

When killed on multiplayer while in elytra fly, you sometimes stay in elytra fly on the ground without an elytra on, I dont have a screenshot, but it has happened to me multiple times.

You will stay in a crawl and sometimes can jump and fly like you have an elytra when you dont.
