The Bug:

Ruined portals can generate with air pockets when generating in aquifers and rivers.

Here is an example:

Version: 1.19.4

Seed: -7904429713016255202
Coordinates: /execute in minecraft:overworld run tp @s 121795.94 56.28 4575.82 -34.40 49.73

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Generate a world with the seed provided above and teleport to the given coordinates.

  2. Look closely at the ruined portal.

  3. Take note as to whether or not ruined portals can generate with air pockets when generating in aquifers and rivers.

Observed Behavior:

Ruined portals can generate with air pockets.

Expected Behavior:

Ruined portals would not be able to generate with air pockets.

We do not have enough information to reproduce this issue.

Please provide the following information about the world you are playing in as text. Attaching a screenshot showing them is not enough.

  • World Type:

    • "Default" if you have not chosen one when creating the world.

    • For "Superflat": Additionally provide the generation preset.

    • For "Buffet": Additionally provide the generator type and biome you have selected.

  • Additional generation settings (in case you changed them): E.g. "Generate Structures", "Bonus Chest", ...

  • Seed: Can be obtained by using the /seed command and clicking on the message in chat

  • Coordinates: Can be copied to clipboard by pressing F3 + C

I am unable to reproduce in 1.17-pre1 using the C&C datapack.

This same core idea can also be seen with amethyst geodes as well, but this could be intentional. I'm just leaving this information here just to shed some light on it since it's very similar.
