Buddying Amethist cannot be crafted. Also, can't be obtained with Silk touch. The only way to obtain the item is via the creative inventory or with commands like /give, /item, /setblock, etc.

Budding amethyst is supposed to be unmovable in survival. I think they also said that at the minecon. When you break it it vanishes and when you try to push it with a piston it also vanishes.
