Unable to create a horse saddle (single player).

Single player, survival mode, normal difficulty.

I'm unable to crate a horse saddle. I've placed the 5 leather , and 3 iron ingots, in the correct crafting slots but nothing happens.

Go find it in a dungeon, ditto for armor.

Horse Saddles are no longer in game, these were removed.

Then why is there a crafting recipe, to make a saddle?
