Lightning rod with powered property becomes white

When a lightning rod has the [powered=true] block state, it will turn white and completely lose its texture.

This can be easily reproduced by using the debug stick to change the lightning rod's block state, but it happens in regular gameplay too.

No anthony Cicinelli, it still happens even without the debug stick, its just easier to execute with it.

Lightning rods are now always white when the powered state is set to true. This causes it to be white when struck by a lightning. This was not mentioned in the changelog, but it is definitely intended.

if its not in the changelog it can possibly mean it was not intended

I've edited the bug report to make it crystal clear that the debug stick is not the only way to get this issue to occur.

In the future keep in mind that the debug stick is unsupported and we'll close bug reports about it real fast if it's not clear that the issue can also occur without using it.

Seems like a placeholder texture to me, there's a texture file specifically for this, it's fully white, and the block state file selects models which select this texture, when powered.

Just to be clear, this behavior is completely INTENDED. This is an undocumented feature, since there is a texture file deliberately put in the version folder called "lightning_rod_on.png" that is completely white, and modifying the pixels of where the lightning_rod.png texture would have been changes the white texture.
This pure white texture probably is a placeholder and won't stay though.

If you don't have an official source from Mojang, you can't be sure. Perhaps they forgot to make a texture for it.

Can confirm in 21w13a.
