[MC-222217] I can't join minecraft servers

I bought Minecraft on my pc earlier today and once i loaded it up I tried to play on a Minecraft server and as I was connecting to the server a message was displayed saying "failed to login:The authentication servers are currently down for maintenance." I've been trying to fix the issue and nothing worked and I need help
