When walking up (and only up) stairs on soul sand with the soul speed enchantment, players will get the speed boost in brief, irregular bursts. This is in heavy contrast to jumping on soul sand with with soul speed, where the player will attain a constant speed boost, despite being a block above soul sand for short bursts of time.
The short bursts of speed also causes the fov to rubberband with the same irregularity, making for a rather nauseous experience.

Can not confirm for 1.17 pre-release 3
Seems similar to MC-207647, however, I'm not sure whether they're the same.
If MC-207647 is fixed and this persists, we can reopen

Issue is still present in 1.17.1 and 21w41a. It doesn't applies to half-blocks anymore but still does with stairs.

This report is a duplicate, no need to update this report anymore.

Report MC-207647 doesn't include stairs, and stairs still cause the soul speed to be applied randomly and result in a "stuttering" effect.
If i understood, putting soul sand underneath stairs and going up will make you get speed in bursts?
