You cannot use F3 commands on macOS Monterey (Laptop only)

Technically, this has been an issue since 1.17-rc2, but regardless if cheats are enabled or not, you cannot use F3 commands, meaning you can't reload texture packs, reload chunks, switch to spectator mode. How did this make it into the full release of 1.17?

The Cause of the Bug

With the bug being caused by new shortcuts in macOS Monterey, on laptops, using FN and a certain key will trigger a shortcut, like FN + A for Finder, FN + N for notifications, etc. Apparently, Minecraft cannot cancel these actions, and therefore is triggering this bug.

As of right now, you can disable FN + Q in Keyboard settings, which will allow you to use FN+F3+Q again in-game.

Are you on a laptop? If so, you'll have to use FN+F3+B for example, to enable hitboxes. Please let me know if this is the problem. 😃

He/She is maybe on macbook and i'm not sure if FN+F3+B works on macbooks.

use shift instead of fn worked with me

You can, but you can't use other features like F3+Q (if Quick Note shortcut is enabled), F3+A, F3+N, etc. And yes, I am using fn+f3+<key>.

Found what's causing it: With the bug being caused by new shortcuts in macOS Monterey, on laptops, using FN and a certain key will trigger a shortcut, like FN + A for Finder, FN + N for notifications, etc. Apparently, Minecraft cannot cancel these actions, and therefore is triggering this bug.

With that being said, this report is invalid due to being a technical support issue.

Not a bug with Minecraft.
