Skylight Bug

I am aware that Mojang attempted to fix this bug years ago, but it still plagues the mountain that I call home. I've blocked all possible entrances for light to enter, and yet my game believes there to be a phantom skylight. This is greatly impacting my build, as I was attempting to create a dark tank for my glow squid. I am playing in 1.17, and I've had this issue present for years. Within the image provided, you can see that the client light level of the block is 3, but the sky light level is 11. I've done all I can to blot out all sources of light from the sky, but to no avail. It should be mentioned that the chunk that this occurred in generated VERY long ago, so that may have some relevance.

Have you tried the "optimize world" button with "Erase cached data" checked? Make sure to backup.

Yeah, try that ↑ For a complete guide see MC-179845 (different issue, but same fix)
If your world is old it's likely that the chunk light was corrupted, optimizing the world should fix it.

I tried doing that a long time ago. It said that my world had been optimized, but the issue still persists.

Is this still an issue in 1.17.1 or later?

Yes. In the current 1.18 version of Java Edition, new patches of darkness have appeared across the world without any explanation.

We do not have enough information to find the cause of this issue.

Please attach the affected (zipped) world file. If the file size is too large, please upload it somewhere else and then link to it here.

This issue is being temporarily closed as Awaiting Response. Once the requested information has been delivered, the report will be reopened automatically.
