The bug
Anytime I try to open my realm settings, I get this:
The game crashed whilst rendering screen
Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "java.awt.image.BufferedImage.getWidth()" because "☃" is null
Exit Code: -1
I recently took the world down and added two new datapacks that had been requested. I've done this multiple times in the past and never had problems with it. I'm unsure if this is a problem with my computer or with a way the world reuploaded itself.

I have the same issue, I was playing a race for the wool map last night with some friends and now I can't open the realms option menu. When I try to open the menu, it shows the buttons, but not the world previews for about 2 seconds and then goes to a Saving World... screen and then crashes with the same error message above. The map has two data packs in the world file and was designed for 1.16.4.

Having the same issue since yesterday. When you try and configure the realm it goes to saving world and then crashes. Tried rebooting etc no change. The world that can't be changed was 1.17.1
[media][media]Same issue on a MacOS as well.
I've tested with 1.17.1 and 1.17, both have the same crash when trying to configure the first realm I manage. I can get in and access the configuration for the other realms I manage, so it may just be related to the first one in the list?
I've tested with and without resourcepacks, with and without optifine, full screen / windowed, updated Java, all have had no effect.
The last configuration change I was making to the realm was uploading a locally configured world to the realm, and the upload got stuck about 63%. Backing out of the upload then lead to the first crash, and the realm was stuck with a corrupted version of the world. I've been unable to configure the realm since then.
I made no changes to any of my client settings and I now have normal range of operations in all my realms configurations. I have been able to upload and reconfigure multiple worlds in my first realm.
Suspect that maybe there was a server refresh or something similar on the server end that was able to flush the stuck settings.
I also noticed a reduction in the lag that appeared in my other realms at the same time.
