Chicken Jockey eggs causing zombies to not despawn

So I noticed my slime farm was not producing any slimes on my multiplayer server. I then found 3 hordes of zombies that were all holding eggs. Overall, I probably killed 100 zombies holding eggs while exploring a mine shaft.  It looks like the chickens stay around as I killed about 20 chickens and the zombies pick up the eggs. Looks like it may be a recession back to a previous bug report here: MC-42174

Also, I ran this command below and it killed 395 zombies holding eggs.  This being said, this was after my slaughter of about 100 of them to avoid 'cheating'
/kill @e[type=minecraft:zombie,nbt={HandItems:[{id:"minecraft:egg"}]}]

I can confirm this as well, my server is having issues with insane amounts of zombies building up in caves due to Chicken Jockeys laying eggs. That being said, chickens that spawn as a Chicken Jockey are not supposed to lay eggs at all. (See 14w02a for MC version 1.8), but this seems to have broken during 1.17's development.
