I cannot play versions prior to 1.3, it crashes when i tried to play.

Does MCL-5837 fix the problem? Options.txt has changed over time and requires separate game folders. Besides, its a good idea so you don't accidentally open the world in another version.
We do not support versions below 1.17.1.
