[MC-234955] Villigers despawned even though they were in buildings

Villagers in a closed building, (no way of getting out)
I went in the nether portal
exited the nether 8000 blocks away
stayed there for 2-3 hours
came back through the portals
no villagers when I came back even the ones in closed buildings
