Tapped Chests output break after player falls out of range with it opened

I wanted to use a trapped chest as an entrance to my base but when testing after falling out of range of the trapped chest into my base (with the trapped chest opened till it kicks me out due to range) and later I am unable to open my base as the trapped chest no longer gives a redstone signal. The trapped chest need to be broken and replaced to work again. I tested and this happens to both waterlogged and notย waterlogged trapped chests.
