The bug

Grass blocks can be generated underwater.

Reproduce

  • Enter the following seed and coordinates.

    Seed: 7394312107885230768
    Coordinates: /execute in minecraft:overworld run tp @s 133.70 61.00 -334.78 -198.75 45.60

    ❌ → Notice how grass blocks are able to generate underwater.

Expected result

Grass blocks should not be generated underwater; instead, dirt should be generated.

Here's some additional information regarding this issue.

The Bug:

Grass blocks are able to generate underwater.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Enter the following seed and coordinates.

Seed: -23279494138296081
Coordinates: /execute in minecraft:overworld run tp @s -1653.23 60.49 -807.33 110.74 18.83
  • → ❌  Notice how grass blocks are able to generate underwater.

Expected Behavior:

The expected behavior would be that grass blocks are not able to generate underwater. Instead, dirt should be generated.

Can no longer reproduce in 21w39a with these coordinates, but the bug might still exist. I will look for other examples.

This is significantly rarer in 21w39a, but it still happens.

Same happens in mangrove swamps as well as sea grass rendering bug in latest release.
