I threw a Trident in creative then i changed into survival mode and was unable to pick up the Trident. As soon as i went back into creative mode i could pick up the Trident again.

Works as intended, there's a specific NBT value set for this.
This is a tag present on the parented data that arrows also use. This behavior is not something you accidentally create.
