lava pools are cut off when reaching bottom bedrock

To reproduce:

  1. create a world with the seed in the screenshot

  2. go to the nether and teleport yourself to the coordinates on the screenshot

  3. use a /fill command to remove all the lava

  4. ❌  notice the lava pool being cut off

Expected behavior would be that the lava pool is gently ended or that it replaces all netherrack untill the bedrock.

Also note the immense sive and height of the lava pool, and the proximity of three other such deep lava pools, which might be a bug on itself.

hey, does this still an issue in 1.19.4? if yes, please provide the new seed and coordinate for the issue

It is really hard to know whether this is still an issue. I haven't encountered such a lava pools because I haven't been extensively searching for them. This does of course say nothing about whether the issue is still present or not.

There's no cave at the seed & coordinates you've provided, even in 1.17.1. Do you remember if the world was generated in an earlier version than this?

Either way, lava bodies at bedrock height seem to be carving into the netherrack correctly in 1.20.2. Is this the case for you as well?
