The Bug:
Badlands mineshaft generation can extend to other biomes, causing jarring surface cuts.
Badlands mineshaft generation is unique: it uses a different wood and cuts more towards the surface than other mineshafts. However, it can extend to other biomes such as plains, and it looks quite jarring.
Here is an example:
Version: 1.19.3
Seed: -3557984241231373185
Coordinates: /execute in minecraft:overworld run tp @s -109.25 77.90 136.41 4.05 58.05
Steps to Reproduce:
Generate a world with the seed provided above and teleport to the given coordinates.
Look closely at the badlands mineshaft generation.
Take note as to whether or not badlands mineshaft generation can extend to other biomes, causing jarring surface cuts.
Observed Behavior:
Badlands mineshaft generation can extend to other biomes, causing jarring surface cuts.
Expected Behavior:
Badlands mineshaft generation would not be able to extend to other biomes.

This behavior is present in 1.17.1 as well and isn't exclusive to the 1.18 snapshots.

I have seen this bug three times in version 1.18 on the seed "-3557984241231373185", including in the badlands biome located at spawn (coordinates: -110, 69, 142)
I can also confirm this in 1.18.1.

I can no longer reproduce this issue in 22w12a in this seed, but I am unsure if that is because this was fixed or if there was a change to mineshaft generation.
Edit: this still affects 22w12a, but no longer affects this seed.
I was actually unable to reproduce in 1.19 Pre-release 1, but this was possibly reintroduced in either 1.19-pre2 or 1.19-pre3 with the fix of MC-251675.
I'm aware that 1.19.2 is already marked as affected, however, following the above comment, I can confidently confirm that this problem is sitll present in the latest release of the game, that being 1.19.2 as of this moment in time. I found a perfect example of this issue occurring in this version so I'm just leaving the details of where this can be found below.

I am able to confirm this though I'm not sure as to whether this duplicates or relates to MC-140613. Also affects 21w42a.
