World used was created in 21w41a, updated through 21w42a and finally used in 21w43a.
Issue encountered when rendering new chunks, so may simply be extension of MC-239878, but crash report attached.
Notable performance issues prior to crash a few minutes after launching having rendered new chunks, the previous time these issues were encountered, game completed execution successfully.
Crash occurred on save and exit after performance issues were noticed. Prior to this, killed drowned wielding trident, swam to boat, traveled to previously loaded chunks possibly out of render distance of new chunks, killed second drowned wielding trident, broke block underwater. Chest would not open, experienced low framerates, could not enter boat.

Can confirm, does follow the same rules as that issue, however the lag spike happens every time rather than occasionally. Maybe with the new chunks being rendered it just can't find where the treasure is supposed to be? Will try looking for a chest in newly generated chunks, see if the bug is replicated there.
As suspected, once far enough into newly generated chunks, ocean ruins chests do not cause error. However, and this may just be a theory, but given that the change was from deep ocean to savannah I doubt world generation is strange enough to put a shipwreck on land in the middle of a savannah, up to a certain point structures that were supposed to generate did generate in the new chunks. Leads me to think that this issue could pop up in a world in a version the snapshot was designed to be compatible with.

I think that this is a duplicate of MC-236740.
Did you attempt to open or break a shipwreck or ocean ruins chest (MC-236740)?
