Trapped chests activating TNT doesn't count as player activation

When TNT is ignited with flint and steel, a fire charge, or a flaming arrow, any entities the TNT then damages or kills will count as player kills. However, this is not the case for trapped chests, where, since the TNT is activated by a redstone signal, it does not count as a player activation, even though, in other scenarios, the trapped chest does give off a player update rather than a redstone one.

Can confirm in 1.17.1. Mobs killed by tnt set off by trapped chests opened by the player do not drop xp, nor do they count as player kills.

Redstone-activated TNT is never assigned to a particular player. What "other scenarios" are you referring to?
