Old worlds broke in Floating islands generator

I upgraded a "Floating islands" type generator World to 21w44a and I went to the edge where the new chunks are and I saw that the world tried to blend.

How to reproduce
1. Create a Floating islands generator world in 1.17.1 or below
2. Generate some chunks in 1.17.1 or below
3. Save the world and load up 21w44a
4. Load up the Floating islands world you generated in 1.17.1 or below
5. X World blending is broken

I'm not too sure but this ticket either relates to or duplicates MC-239041.

Is this still an issue when upgrading a Minecraft 1.17.1 world to Minecraft 1.18 or later?

Hi, it appears that the behavior when reproducing this issue has changed slightly. The main problem here, that being how end stone can generate in new chunks after upgrading old floating island worlds, has been fixed and is no longer a concern. However, chunk blending, liquid propagation, and world generation still remain an issue. Allow me to elaborate. 🙂

For starters, upgrading old floating island worlds to 1.18 from 1.17.1 results in chunk blending not working as expected. Long and continuous lines of blocks at y level 0 can be seen between the borders of old chunks and new chunks.

Additionally, in new chunks attempting to blend with old chunks, liquids don't propagate as they should and can occasionally be seen floating.

As for world generation in new chunks, nothing generates between y level 0 and y level -64.

To assist in investigating this issue, below, I've provided a world download of the floating islands world in which I experienced this in, before upgrading it to 1.18. Hopefully, this information helps in some shape. 🙂
