When playing MC when my laptop is plugged in its fine, no problems, but when i unplug it to move to a a table or something its unresponsive, and takes at LEAST 20-30 minutes to get it back again.

Minecraft cannot detect plugged in status, so it must be something else on your system. Perhaps you are using a different graphics card or are just going on low performance to save power.
