Random sand patches at border old chunks and new chunks when upgrading to new snapshot

The bug

I upgraded a very old world to this snapshot. There are very weird sand patches at the border. The biome at the sand is beach, and at the grass is ocean

At the same coordinates in a world with the same seed there is just ocean, so that is not the problem

It sometimes also happens with 1.17 worlds

How to reproduce

  1. Make some worlds in 1.17 and load all chunks within a a specific render distance (don't move)

  2. Update to the newest pre-release and find the border

  3. Go along the border and you will sometimes find this

Details of upgraded 1.17.1 world

No additional generation settings
Seed: 9184991237633477144
Coordinates: 118.05 135.51 -293.96

Could you maybe attach the affected (zipped) world file? This would help a bunch with reproducing this issue. If the file size is too large, please upload it somewhere else and then link to it here. Thanks!

We would really love a zip of this world. IF you cannot attach to the ticket, a shared (public or direct link) Google Drive, OneDrive, or kind of link would help!

The pre-upgraded world, thanks!

I did the same test in pre release 5, no difference

The attatched zip is the world before upgrading so you can test it in any version yourself!

Can the confirmation status be changed since I added steps to reproduce this?

Confirmed for prerelease 3

It is normal for Blending to pull out the old biome, even if it is ocean. I wanted to check the sand line in the first picture but I can't reproduce it with the given seed. It is better to upload the world BEFORE upgrading, so I can reproduce the steps.
Biome blending has also changed slightly in the 1.19 snapshots so would be great to test this again in the latest snapshot. I will resolve this, feel free to reopen if you think it still is an issue.

Hmmhm I thought I added the world before upgrading
Edit yeah I did, I just didn't mark it properly. The world before updating is in the attachments

Seems to be fixed for 21w15a. I added two screenshots of the same world
Not sure about the indev world but doesn't matter too much, if the 1.17 updating is fixed.

Resolved as fix as per the comment above.
