[MC-242035] Potential Blending or Cave Generation Issue making holes

Was trying to see what our 1.17 world will look like post update and noticed these giant holes. Not sure if this is an intentional terrain design, but seemed a bit unusual.

Well I guess a straight drop into a cave is technically an entrance lol. Just wasn't sure if its intentional since the ones I am seeing in mostly the plains seem a bit more...dramatic... than the other biomes.
