its a cave entrance...
Can confirm in 1.18 Prerelease 5
Solution is as simple as giving the biome an appropriate position on the foliage and grass colormap. Colormap position is currently default (the same as in oceans and dripstone caves)
This is not a bug, it is a feature. It is the same as with snowballs or eggs, they cause knockback and "hurt" the mob but deal 0 damage.
Not Java Edition
ayo That is just normal terrain generation.
This is temporary, it has already been said that new terrain will generate under the old world.
@Tokes Yes the old carves make caves with no connection to others, but those are a lot bigger than just an 1x2 air gap in the middle of nowhere.
Other ores generate also generate as stone when they are right next to or in tuff blobs.
Im pretty sure this is temporary intended behaviour. All noise caves generating above y=30 are flooded, this causes that unnatural stone ceiling you saw. It is to stop the water from the y=30 and above noise caves from flooding the ones below.
This is intended behaviour. If you look for the official Nether Update artwork Alex is in a soulsand valley and there are crimson roots next to her.
This issue cannot be resolved as “Work as intended” as it is a parity issue. The foliage is the right color on bedrock edition, so why would it be intended to be the wrong color on java? You can also take it as an oversight because the current foliage color is the same as the default foliage color for a biome. The devs never gave it a temperature.
