Worldseed isn't working right

All server owners have this problem.
Paper
Spigot
Worldedit, a plugin as you know, works with the seed to rebuild parts of the world
//chunk
//regen
and it regenerates complete different chunk
Try it yourself, make a server out of papermc.io or spigotmc.org use a 1.17.1 version of them and a world ofcourse, put in a pluginfolder the right plugins ofcourse, worldedit, permissions plugin like luckperms, go in the world have the right to use a //wand and then do //chunk and when a chunk is selected do //regen.
See that the world is minimally changed. Now go to those websites and use either of them in the 1.18 version, let the world upgrade either through minecraft client or other means, go in that same world and do again //chunk and then //regen

Our result came out that there was a significant not matching chunk that looked horrible.
Now I have contacted the worldedit owner and he said that there was not a change in the command //regen. So, it must be the version of minecraft that uses the worldseed, other things I can not think of.

Hope you understand that this problem is globally, because at every point somewhere in the world a server owner has to repair for whatever reason a piece of the world, and the only way to do this fast is with WORLDEDIT!

I hope you take this serious and will look into this, try this so that I do not think I'm going mad over this πŸ™‚

Sincerely,

You should only be able to report bugs that occur in vanilla😞

So, you do not admit that level seed vanilla from 1.17.1 generates a totally different world with the same seed in 1.18?
Well, it does.
And seeing that there are more servers around the world that use plugins and mods, which is totally unaware at Mojang, these problems exist.
But I'm sorry that I tried to bring this to your attention, even if it is not vanilla, because in vanilla there is absolutely no way to regen any part of the world - using vanilla is like sitting in a rollercoaster, you can not do anything but SCREAMMMMM!!!!!!!

Thank you for your report!

thanks, but as you know, world generation is something minecraft is doing at its core, not a serverjar or plugin (not that I use, otherwise I would start there)
I started at Worldedit, there came the response that nothing had changed in their programming, then I went to PaperMC, the same thing, someone pointed at level seed, so I started vanilla testing, the seed (as I said before) in 1.17.1 produces a totally differnt world from that same level seed in 1.18. That is quit a difference to server owners who need often to rely on plugins to help them restore idiots who ravish or destroy parts of their world....

That is all I am saying.....
Thanks for enlightening me on this subject...

world generation has change in 1.6 it has change also in 1.13 it has change in 1.18 too man... its not an issue its intended too... take a world in 1.17 visit it a bit. update it in 1.18 you ill see some chunk will generate using 1.18 generation and it will give you like huge clift of chunk out of the world. this is normal behavior caused by world generation change. if you realy want your old generation back you will need to use a generator for your modified server. plugins are mods. they change the gameplay and the behavior of the server. understand mojang cant manage other dev team. they dev a game not mods for this game.

That was a necessary change in 1.18, and regenerating chunks isn't a vanilla feature of Minecraft.
