When attempting to launch Minecraft from the microsoft launcher I get the following error message: "Failed to download file. Error details: Java runtime manifest is missing the desired component for this platform." The error only occurs when trying to launch the following snapshots: 22w19a and 22w18a. The error does not occur when launching older snapshots, i.e. 22w17a, or "latest version" 1.18.2. I have already tried reinstalling Minecraft, the launcher, and Java. I also made sure to update my GPU to the latest driver. I verified that all the download paths and launch options are set to default.

I can confirm this still happens in 1.19-pre1
I have Java 8 installed, and I tried re-installing it. The bug persisted.
(I am going to try Java 17 next)
Java 17 works properly for me.
Given that long-term support for Java 8 ended in March of this year, this ticket may not be classified as a bug.
This would mean that many players will need to update java to play the 1.19 update, which they should probably do anyway for security reasons.
lvjoo it dont work i get this message when i tried ite
Failed to find Java Runtime. Error Details: The operation was completed. File name on disk: java Path: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_281\bin\java Exists: Nonexistent
https://minecrafthopper.net/help/guides/changing-java-version/ works, i have solf it, the thing i have need to type was wrong but now i can play minecraft 1.19 😀
This worked perfectly. Thank you!
edit: For clarity, it was forcing the launcher to use the updated Java using "other options" that worked. Thanks!
@uzumaki_asta It looks like the launcher is still trying to use Java 8. Make sure that you've got Java 17 installed and that you're pointing the launcher to the correct javaw
binary.
If you have not been able to fix this yet, I recommend downloading Java 17 and forcing your Minecraft Launcher to launch the snapshots through it.
You can do this by selecting More Options when editing instances and selecting Java 17 when choosing the Java Executable. I found this website helpful for more information: https://minecrafthopper.net/help/guides/changing-java-version/
Hope this helps!
