Chunks will despawn in checker like pattern.

I was playing in my minecraft world when I realized that all the chunks loaded had despawned in a pattern. Every few chunks it would despawn and then load with new terrain which would then delete the previous things in the old chunks. I had some builds in the old chunks and then they got replaced by the new terrain.
