Flying through a nether portal using elytra will not change dimensions although the portal enter sound will play. If the portal is re-entered in creative mode on the same game tick the player first enters the portal, the player is instantly teleported between dimensions.

Following on from the above comment, the portal enter sound (the "Portal noise intensifies" sound) always plays when walking through nether portals regardless as to whether or not you successfully changed dimensions and that issue is being tracked at MC-104964. As stated above already, were you in creative mode when flying through the nether portal with elytra?
Bedrock Edition is not Java Edition; this tracker is for Java Edition only. Can you please attach a screenshot of this issue occurring with the F3 screen enabled?

Your game, launcher or server is modified.
If you can reproduce the issue in a vanilla environment, please recreate the issue.
Any non-standard client/server/launcher build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the creator of the plugin or resource pack.
If you have problems on large servers, such as The Hive and Hypixel, please contact them first as they run modified server software.

Were you in creative mode using an elytra to go through the portal? If you were in survival mode, this is intentional; however, if you flew through the portal using an elytra in creative mode, this is probably a bug. In creative mode, you are teleported immediately to the nether, which is the way it is supposed to be. survival, however, requires waiting a period of time in the portal before entering.
