Originally MC-254201
I started to find the number of allays in my farm reducing ever since I brought them back in 1.19. At first, my guess was that they might somehow suffocate in blocks since I always found them stuck in non-full blocks such as bamboos, fences, and flower pots like bees do. But then more and more stray allays with crops in hand start to rally on me as I venture into the north-west for the stronghold.
The notebox is around -270,200 as shown in the picture in which ttwoallays are stuck in a fence. And all the stray allays were found hundreds of blocks north-west of it. (The allay in the second image was also found in the north-west section as I was flying south to home, it followed me to the south-west section as I took the landing) Along with the allays I also found stray bees and zombie piglins all stuck in north-west pathfinding loop. Like MC-206401 described, but in the latest version and not only to the bees.
The northwest pathfinding bias is a known problem (or a feature), which is just fine for most mobs. But the problem with allays (and bees) is that this bias somehow makes them forget about the block they should return to (noteboxes for allays and hives for bees) and keep wandering until they got unloaded.
