{{So me and my sister are trying to play together in Minecraft multiplayer but there's this one problem. It shows an error "Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.EncoderException: String too big (was 17 characters, max 16)" this has been going on since 2018 and we cant play together. This also happens in servers that I have. Which means that I can't play with anyone 😞. }}
Please help me fix this, I want to play with my sister.

that shouldn't be possible on legally obtained minecraft iirc? either way that's the cause, usernames should be <= 16
