what expected was my old minecraft, just like my unbroken 1.5.2 version
but when I started it up, every 2nd letter was hidden or partially showing

Same here, I think it's got a problem with the new resource pack format.

It's either what Fred said, or because the HD Texture Support in 1.6.1 is broken and\or does not support HD Fonts. When Optifine is released, try using it to fix your problem.
