Mob spawners used to have the nostalgic feature where they would be pig spawners by default so that I don't need to use a pig spawn egg but now I need the spawn egg and it takes longer to get a pig spawner.

However, this issue is Working as Intended.
The report you have submitted is working as intended: as per the 22w44a changelogs:
Spawners no longer have a default mob spawn type when placed by a player (previously was the Pig)
Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.
