I am trying to breed some villagers for my iron farm. I have checked online and I am dropping the right foods, however the villagers are not picking them up. Instead they stand next to it staring at it. As far as I know they have not picked anything up previously, and the server I am on is vanilla.

Hello there. You are very likely experiencing this behavior because the "mobGriefing" gameule is set to "false"; see MC-177120. If this is the case, does enabling this gameule resolve the problem?
I'm not a mod on the server so I can't test it, but I know mob griefing is disabled and the behavior appears the same. Thank you so much!
No problems. Unfortunately mobs cannot pick up items when mobGriefing is disabled, which is intentional.
