I was playing creative and I went inside a library in a village. The bats are inside the house but when I chase them one of them began to hang on nothing near a glass pane adjacent to the other panes and blocks. It must be the AI of the bats that's causing this...

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Confirmed in 13w07a. Seems to be a client-server desync as the bat is not really there and warps to the right spot after a while.
