Every time I download a new launcher, it does not continue my progress from last time, but instead reverts the whole world back to sometime during early 2013. It only continues my progress from the very last time only if I keep it in the downloads folder, and at times that doesn't even work, so I have to find certain folders on my computer that will allow me to continue.

Does MCL-416 describe your issue ?

Not really. I tried to fix it but nothing worked. Do you need me to send more info? Basically the saves I have made (including severs that I've saved to the multiplayer list) have all been restarted from when I first installed the first version of the new launcher. I've been able to counteract this somehow a couple of times, but it escapes me as to how I do it again. Also, recently I downloaded some new maps off PlanetMinecraft to try out, and instead of picking up where I left off, they completely restarted. I think it does have to do with old directories, but you're going to have to explain it in basic talk because I don't really understand code... thanks by the way!

Aha. Got it.
The world saves revert to an older saved state.
Sounds more like a Minecraft issue than a Launcher issue.

Thanks! Create a new issue, then?

No, this ticket is still unresolved, but I'm out of ideas.

Kumasasa, I figured out what it is! It must have something to do with how Minecraft uses directories and obtains information from saves! It must be either using an old directory or obtaining the wrong save files! I was able to scan my worlds with a mapping program (Cartograph G), and found that everything is just like how it was when I last left it, even though when I play it things are missing from a few months ago. I hope this info helps and that we can somehow get this fixed!

must be either using an old directory or obtaining the wrong save files
What happens if you play that world: Can you see that the last access date of the files in {{C:\Users\PC_USER\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves\Alex's Survival World}} do change ? In what world / directory do you find your progress with cartograph ?
Do you have two worlds with the same name ?
Or did you stumble over MC-17830 ?

Yes, every time I play, the time stamp does update. In cartograph, I use C:\Users\PC_USER\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves\Alex's Survival World, the same location where my world is, to map. I do not have two worlds with the same name, and the bug you listed has happened to me before, but did not effect the state of my world.

But from where in the world (pun intended) should Minecraft take the old data ?
If there is only one directory where Cartograph reads correct from, but not Minecraft ?!?
No more ideas.
