Minecraft crash on startup with exit code -1073741819

Hi!

Unfortunately I am unable to launch my fresh installed Minecraft. The game immediately crashes with error code -1073741819. This indicates as far as I can tell an issue with file/storage access. But only Minecraft has this issue, no other game or program. I noticed a few comments mentioning that only Nvidia graphics cards have this issue, but have never owned an Nvidia card. Though, my AMD card is quite old, this might be the issue, but it worked the last versions flawlessly. So far I tested reinstalling the launcher from the Microsoft store (and also deleting .minecraft folder from appdata), installing the Standalone Minecraft launcher from the official website (also deleting the .minecraft folder upfront). Below you'll find details about my system specs hardware and software wise. Hope you can help me.

Software:

Operating System: Windows 11 Pro 22621.1848
System language: German
Minecraft launcher version: v.2.4.104-1.2.16
AMD driver: 23.5.2 (currently the latest available)

Hardware:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
RAM: 32GB
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 380

I resolved my issue, but I cannot tell what ultimately resolved it. Though, I can give you details about the steps I took:

(Please note, my CPU has an iGPU)

  1. Uninstall drivers and disable the dedicated graphics card via device manager

  2. Reboot

  3. Download DDU (Display driver uninstaller)

  4. Reboot into secure mode

  5. Use DDU to absolutely and completely remove any graphics driver

  6. Power off

  7. Physically remove dedicated graphics card from PC

  8. Power on

  9. Install graphic drivers from the official AMD sources (so now only the iGPU has drivers)

  10. Power off

  11. Install dedicated graphics card again

  12. Power on

  13. Re-run the driver program from AMD and "add" drivers for your dedicated GPU

  14. Reboot

  15. Things are working again!!! 🙂
