Full screen resolution setting ignored on ultrawide monitor

My monitor's native resolution is 2560x1080 but if I set the fullscreen resolution setting to 1920x1080 it ignores that and still outputs at the full screen size. Note the dimensions of the attached screenshots

Please provide a displayed difference between how 1920x1080p and 2560x1080p both look through a video, gif, or two screenshots both properly labeled with their resolution. It would also be helpful to know experienced the issue in fullscreen or not, as the window behaves differently in windowed compared to fullscreen.

Since both share the same height, it could be changing the resolution properly, and just sctretching the image vertically (Ultimately, making it appear the exact same).

I can't show the difference between 1920 and 2560 - I raised this bug because Minecraft will not allow me to run the game at 1920!

The in-game screenshot I attached is 2560x1080 pixels in size, but in my video settings you can see it's set to 1920x1080. If I set the windows desktop resolution to 1920x1080 before launching the game this still happens. So Minecraft is deciding that "full screen on" means "do whatever resolution the monitor supports" and is ignoring the "fullscreen resolution" setting.

My monitor will handle 1920 just fine, and I was trying to use this to stream Minecraft from my PC to my living room TV. It works for other games, they just do what they're told and output 1920.

Currently, it's impossible to tell what's actually going on based off the screenshots. As stated previously, minecraft could possibly appear to not have changed it's resolution, but in actuality is working as expected.

Please provide a video of the following:

  1. Make sure your resolution is at your monitor's default resolution (2560p), and that you are currently on fullscreen mode

  2. Change the slider to 1080p

  3. Change the game's resolution to windowed

  4. Change back to fullscreen

If you don't have video recording software, windows has a built in game bar for recording, or there is additionally OBS, which is free to use.

I think the fact that the screenshots I generated by pressing F2 is 2560x1080 prove it was not rendering at 1920x1080.

Please provide the requested information, as it will assist us in diagnosing this issue. Currently, the issue is incomplete without it. Thanks 🙂
