I'm not able to reproduce this in 1.20.4. Please attach a short video of this occurring if you can reproduce it in the latest release version or snapshot.

I couldn't select 1.20.1 and I thought that it would still be a thing in 1.20.4

Sounds were changed to wood in 23w33a for 1.20.2... (MC-200484)
If you're still hearing stone sounds, you're using an outdated version, which is not supported here.
