[MC-269378] blur on main menus occasionally causes game display to freeze permanently

When browsing through the main menus with blur enabled there is a chance a lag spike will accrue. This will freeze the display but still run the game normally in the background. This doesn't appear to happen when you're in a world, only in the main menus. The only way to fix this is to restart the game.

Exiting and entering fullscreen bugs out the screen when frozen.

Edit: It only seems to trigger when on fullscreen

We do not have enough information to find the cause of this issue.

Please record a video of this happening and attach it to this report.
If you are on Windows, you can use Windows+Alt+R to open a built-in app for recording game footage.
If you are on Mac (Mojave or later), you can use Shift+Command+5 to open a built-in app for recording your screen.
In case you don't have a program to record videos, we recommend using the free recording software OBS.
In case the resulting video file is too large to be uploaded to the bug tracker directly, please upload it elsewhere (e.g. as unlisted video on YouTube) and link to it here.

The bug was happening repeatedly before I went to record it and now nothing is happening, some time has passed since then. There is a chance it was my laptop acting up during the time of the bug report when having blur enabled on the main menu's. It happened after I stopped recording but I couldn't get it again. The behavior is inconsistent and can't be replicated reliably, therefor this report for now is useless.

I managed to capture the bug on a phone and uploaded two unlisted clips on youtube. It seems like the bug only triggers if you are in fullscreen. In the first clip when trying to exit and enter fullscreen again it causes the screen to flash black rapidly. In the second clip after I stopped recording it caused a visual bug like the one in the screenshot and showed the red mojang screen frozen in the box.

Great that you managed to catch a video of it occuring.
I'm wondering if this could be linked to a technical issue either with drivers or maybe the display. Are you able to join the community support discord server and see if they can troubleshoot it there?
