Wolves bred in one biome inherit the variant of the parent

Tame two wolves in a wooded badlands, and then move them to a different biome, such as a desert. Breed them. I was expecting a pale wolf which matched the color/texture/type it was born in, but the pup inherited the color/texture/type from its parents.

Is the expected result that the baby would inherit it's color/texture/type from the biome it's in, and not it's parent?

I'm pretty sure its intended to inherit its variant from its parents.

I agree that this seems intentional, though I will confirm the issue so that Mojang can decide.
