What I expected to happen was...:
I just wanted to play my 1.7.10 modded world, like I have for the last six years.
What actually happened was...:
Minecraft updated the launcher and now it crashes, AGAIN. The last time this happened was a few weeks ago where your launcher update conflicted with the Myths and Monsters mod. Pleas note that I haven't updated my mods in over 4 years because I enjoyed the versions as they were.
CAN'T YOU GUYS JUST LEAVE THE OLDER VERSIONS OF MINECRAFT ALONE? All I want to do is have some fun and blow off some stress after a long day at work.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on the Minecraft Launcher
2. Watch with dread as it auto-updates
3. Select 1.7.10 Forge from the drop down menu
4. Click on the green "Play" button
5. Watch in horror as it fails to load
6. Read the short error message and feel helpless
The game crashed whilst there was a severe problem during mod loading that has caused the game to fail
Error: cpw.mods.fml.common.LoaderException: java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError
7. Log in to bugs.mojang.com and open a bug report
8. Go find something else to do and try not to be pissed off that the software that I used las week, the one that I paid money for, several licenses over the years in fact, no longer works.

Hi Marc!
I've analyzed the crash report. The crash is caused by the Minecraft mod "LLibrary" not initializing properly. This issue has been reported to the developers of LLibrary here: https://github.com/iLexiconn/LLibrary/issues/200
See also: https://forums.minecraftforge.net/topic/147283-llibrary-is-breaking-my-game-and-i-cant-fix-it/ and https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/java-edition-support/3198821-llibrary-mod-crashing-and-i-dont-know-why
Mojang is not affiliated with LLibrary and does not provide any support for this mod. I'm not affiliated with LLibrary either so I cannot give you any further information. For further support, please contact the authors of LLibrary or post on the Minecraft Forge forums.
Dear Violine1101,
Thank you for reviewing the crash log and pointing me in a direction for resolution. It is frustrating to have a game that I have enjoyed for literal years suddenly stop working because of an update. Issue the "even though it's something we did, too bad we won't help you" standard response and compound that anger.
Again, thank you.
Your response is appreciated.
The game did not stop working; your mod stopped working. Mojang do not control this mod, or any mod. There is literally nothing they could have done to resolve this issue.
Well Charlotte Buff, I and many other MC players will disagree with you. See, it worked just fine FOR YEARS until the update caused it to not work anymore. Since it was changes by Mojang that caused the loading process to fail, Mojang was in fact the source of the problem.
Llibrary, which quite a few mods rely upon, is no longer being updated (see attached).
The only workaround is to disconnect from the internet, forcing the launcher to play offline. Then our beloved game works just fine.
https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/java-edition-support/3198821-llibrary-mod-crashing-and-i-dont-know-why is where I found the solution to disconnect from the internet...and yes, that works.
So don't say that "There is literally nothing they could have done to resolve this issue." MOJANG IS THE SOURCE OF THIS ISSUE. You guys don't need to make your loader screw with previous versions. You should really fix this before some vindictive person talks to a lawyer who sees dollar $igns in a class action.
Some of us love this game because there is literally nothing like it, especially the older modded versions.
