Memory leak, instability on server & Azul Platform Prime 21

When running the latest snapshot server under Azul Platform Prime, with a matching java version of 21, a memory leak occurs which takes memory usage to hundreds of gigabytes, and in my experience 457% usage.Β

This also comes with general server instability, super slow performance, block break events taking several seconds to register. as well as creating ghost items in the inventory.

I haven't concluded enough testing before resorting to Zulu 21, but this should be investigated., as Azul Platform Prime is fully TCK compliantΒ  Azul Zing can be acquired on Azul's site.

We do not have enough information to find the cause of this issue.

Please provide a performance report by running the command /perf start to create a profiling report for the server.
Once profiling has finished, please attach the generated .zip file from debug/profiling/<DATE>.zip of the server folder.

This issue is being temporarily resolved as Awaiting Response. Once the requested information has been delivered, the report will be reopened automatically.

Thanks for your input.

I've attached the performance report to the issue. It should be in the attachments section.
Note that in order to recreate the issue, the server must run under Azul Zing as the java runtime. However, that is the only requirement.

Have you tried OpenJ9? Perhaps other JVMs can solve the problem.

Hmm, your performance report shows a constant heap size of 1010-1038 MiB (avg 1024 MiB) used by Minecraft. Looks like a bug with the Zing JVM rather than with Minecraft itself.

Have you checked whether other Java apps have the same issue when run with this version of Zing?

Under Zulu, there are no such issues, thus it's likely a zing related memory leak. If it turns out to be, I'll send an email to Azul, they can deal with this.

I don't have any other java apps to test with. What would you recommend?

Here are some other Java applications that I am aware of:
Based on the HotSpot JVM: Microsoft OpenJDK and the original OpenJDK;
Based on the OpenJ9 JVM: IBM's Semeru JDK.
I hope it will be helpful to you.

You may also want to try running the server for older versions of Minecraft on this exact setup and see if it's also affecting those. If they also have issues with Zing 21 but didn't before with previous versions of Zing, this would indicate a bug in the newer Zing 21.
