Step 1
Run /tick freeze and then run /summon experience_bottle ~ ~ ~
As you can see as long you are within ~4 or 5 blocks of the bottle while the game is frozen, it is not rendered. If you move more than 5 blocks or the game is "running normally" (tick unfreeze), it will render properly.

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.
Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.

This is a feature designed to prevent projectiles from flashing in the screen when thrown; they don't render when close for the first couple ticks of their existence. I've updated the title to reflect this
